Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. registers steady sales growth in March’ 09

New Delhi, April 01: Honda Siel Cars India Ltd, leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered a growth of 32% over the previous month by selling 7,368 units in March 2009 as against 5,579 units sold in February 2009. The growth in sales is fuelled by the success of its leading model - the new Honda City.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President - Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India said, “The new Honda City has emerged as an exemplary performer. Even in these challenging times, the sales of the Honda City have grown by 20% ever since the deliveries started in November 2008. We enter 2009 - 10 with a lot of confidence and are looking forward to launch of Honda Jazz as the year progresses.”
The cumulative sales of the company during the Financial Year period April’ 08– Mar’ 09 was 52,420 units as against 62,802 units sold in Apr’07 – Mar ’08. In response to the negative growth in the Indian automobile industry and in the interest of maintaining lean operations, Honda Siel Cars India had reduced production at its Greater Noida plant since December 08.

Expansion of Sales and Distribution Network in 2008-09:

Honda Siel Cars India expanded its sales and distribution network across the country during the fiscal year 2008-09 to 103 facilities in 60 cities. The network included 80 facilities in 51 cities during 2007-08.
